Biography
As a young child, Christopher was an only child living with his single mother named Voleta Wallace. He was a very bright child that got good grades in school. He attended Queen of All Saints Middle School . But living in the streets of Brooklyn didnt shape him into a very studious adolescent. He began to sell drugs on the street corner because he was constantly under the peer pressure of the neighborhood kids. But Christopher had something that most kids couldnt do well. Rapping came very easy to him. He was able to rap on command well. So as he was growing up, he entered The Source Magazine for their "Unsigned Hype" competition. In doing this, the magazine editors where thoroughly impressed and Christopher won the contest. His tape was submitted to Sean "Puffy" Combs, CEO of Bad Boy. He was soon apprenticed by Sean and was put to work rapping on re-mixes of Mary J. Blige, Super cat and Neneh Cherry. Biggie was 21 years old when he was endoresed by Sean Combs and signed by Uptown Records. In his High School years, Biggie attended a private Catholic school but then transferred to George Westinghouse Information Technology High School. At this school, he continued selling drugs and eventually dropped out of high school at 17 years old. Soon after he dropped out of school, he featured an album that hit 13th on the top 200 chart, "Ready to Die." He married his girlfriend, Faith Evans in 1994. The two were married until Biggie's death in 1997 but had two children. On March 9,1997, Christopher was leaving a night club when he was suddenly assassinated as his car was stopped at a red light. A person who was driving a Cheverolet Impala opened fire on the young rapper taking his life before he was able to reach a hospital. He was only 24 years old when he passed away.
